In this post, I would like to share how manifesting has helped me towards success. Before I get into it, let me start by saying I am not a religious or spiritual person. In fact, I am quite sceptical about a lot of things.
Many years ago, I kept hearing stories about celebrities manifesting and how it helped them achieve success. Jim Carrey was one of those celebrities. Before his fame, he used to visualize himself as a famous actor and being on set of a big movie. He also wrote himself a check for $1,000,000 and wrote his name in the recipient section. He imagined getting paid this check for a movie role, and a few years later, he landed the lead role in the movie “Dumb and Dumber.”
There are many stories like this where someone visualizes themselves in a position they want to be in rather than just wanting it. These stories have always intrigued me, and I love hearing the reasons for how successful people become who they are.
In the spring of 2014, my friend and I watched the movie “The Secret,” which is all about the concept of the law of attraction and positive thinking. We would usually chat during films as we watched, but during this movie, we were both silent.
After the movie finished, we both said “wow” and began to discuss it. In the movie, there is a part where the narrator explains how it only takes one bad thing for your whole day to fall apart. I can’t remember the story exactly, but it went something like this: he woke up late, got out of bed, and stubbed his toe on his bed frame. This put him in a bad mood, and this negative mindset continued throughout the day. I think he then rushed to work, got stuck in traffic, got told off by his boss, etc.
I’m sure you have had days where one thing after another goes wrong, and you can’t quite believe your luck. I know I have! The narrator explained that this is due to the law of attraction. If you think negatively, that’s what you will attract throughout your day.
On the contrary, I’m sure you have had some fantastic days where many things go right. This story really hit me, as I thought about some of the bad days I have had.
I then thought about another one of my friends. He always seemed to be going through a rough time, and we always joked about how he is the unluckiest person we know. There wasn’t a week that went by without him experiencing some kind of drama, whether it was relationship struggles, getting fired from his job, his appliances or car breaking down, getting speeding tickets, etc.
He also had one of the most negative mindsets I had ever come across, and I never heard anything positive come out of his mouth. However, I felt sorry for him, and I remember thinking if my life had as many dramas as his, maybe I would be negative all the time too.
But after watching the film, it made me wonder if he had been attracting these negative things, as that is the way his mind was wired to think. I was convinced, and as soon as I got home, I got to work on writing down some goals for myself.
At the time, I was working as a plumber. It was agency work, so I was always worried about getting kicked off a job when it finished and how long I would have to wait to secure the next one (sometimes it was a month or two). I wrote down that I wanted a more secure job that would pay me more money.
Also, at the time I had just come out of a very unstable relationship where me and my partner could not make it through a week without there being some issue or argument, we were very on and off for 4 years.
So I wrote down that I wanted a stable relationship with minimal drama and way more good times than bad times. I also wrote down that I wanted to have £10,000 in my bank account in a year’s time. I also wanted to get on the property ladder so wrote down that I wanted to buy my own home within 5 years.
I made sure that I wrote these goals down on the notes section of my phone rather than in one of my notebooks. I knew that if I wrote it in one of these notebooks, there was a good chance I would never see the page again and it would end up in one of my drawers.
My plan was to always have these goals with me and to look at them daily. I got into the habit of waking up and, before looking at anything else on my phone, I would open the notes section and remind myself of my goals. After reading each goal, I would visualize the result. I would imagine checking my bank account and seeing £10,000. I would imagine getting the keys to my first house, etc.
Like I said, I am a pretty sceptical person, but I allowed myself to have an open mind and to commit to the process for a good length of time. And to my surprise, my life changed for the better after a few months. In the summer, I was offered a job interview for a well-known railway company, and I am still here nearly 9 years later. Also, 2 weeks after starting my new job, I got speaking to a lovely young lady on the dating app Tinder, and I am still with her to this day! Because I saw results from my daily ritual of checking my goals and visualizing, I was inspired to carry on and even take it more seriously.
In a year’s time, I had smashed my target of having £10,000 in my bank account; I had closer to £15,000, which was incredible! I managed to smash this target because I now had a job that paid me more money than when I wrote the goals, and I started a side hustle, “matched betting.” I won’t get into the ins and outs of matched betting now, but I will save it for another day. However, this helped me on my way to saving for a deposit on my first house.
In the summer of 2017, my partner and I got the keys to our first home, a 4-bedroom semi-detached Victorian house with high ceilings and a lot of space.
Now, as I sit here writing this, I can’t help but think that you may not believe this story and that it sounds too good to be true, but it is true, I can promise you that. To this day, I am not sure why this process worked and still works.
I’m not sure who to thank, is it a higher power, God, the universe, or is it simply keeping myself reminded of the destination I want to reach and holding myself accountable. Maybe the brain finds it easier to follow a path when it has the destination visualized. Whatever is responsible for it, I am very grateful.
Since achieving the above goals, I have continued to set new challenges to achieve, like earning £100-£250 a month from online sources, renovating my home and adding value, investing 10% of my wages every month, saving £20,000 (Buying a house and renovating put me back at zero)
It is nice to reflect as I look at these goals which I have managed to achieve. However, at the time of writing them down, they seemed very hard to achieve, especially earning £100-£250 a month online. At that time I had no idea where to look to earn this money. I didn’t include matched betting in this goal, as I wanted to find something else that would pay me long term.
To this day, I always set goals that feel hard to accomplish like: Having a large Facebook group, getting monetized on YouTube within a year, and having multiple online income streams, etc.

In June 2021, I created a vision wallpaper for the lock screen of my phone. It was a collage of different images that reminded me of certain goals and things I wanted, such as earning £10,000 a month consistently from my main job and side hustles, wanting a BMW M sport 4 series, wanting a big beautiful modern house with lots of glass, wanting to earn money each month from Amazon KDP, wanting to buy additional properties to rent out and grow my wealth, and wanting to quit my job and be able to earn a good living from my laptop and travel anywhere I wanted. I still have this wallpaper on my lock screen today.
Although I haven’t technically achieved all of these goals, my mindset has changed on a few things. I have become more financially educated and less materialistic. I could afford the BMW, but I would rather wait a bit longer to buy assets that would help me reach my financial independence goal sooner. As for the multiple properties goal, I am unsure of the current market, so I am waiting to see how house prices fair in the near future. In England, house prices have risen rapidly since Covid appeared, so I don’t want to buy an overpriced second property.
One of the goals I have completed was earning close to the figure shown on the KDP royalty estimator. Back in July 2021, the most I had earned in a month from Amazon KDP was $5,838, which was in December 2020.

I found an image of the highest earnings I could see from a monthly Amazon income report and managed to surpass this figure in December 2022, earning royalties of $14,189.

In conclusion, I am a big believer in manifesting, the law of attraction, or positive thinking, and it has drastically changed my life since I committed to it. I hope you can have an open mind towards this, even if you are naturally sceptical like I was. Give it a try, watch “The Secret”, create a vision board or wallpaper with all your goals, visualize yourself achieving them and how you feel when you do.
It won’t harm you to test it out.
Take care,
Ben
I am also a believer of law of attraction/manifesting and also has changed my life but I never write down all these goals, same you did, Ben. when I have one goal then I will focus it on that goal until success or reach the good results then I just move to work out for another one. maybe I should try the same like you did. Thanks Ben today I got a new thing to learn again for my mindset.
That’s great Harry. There are many different ways to go about goals and manifesting. I like your way too, at least you can put all your attention on one thing until it is finished.
Thanks for sharing Ben. Coincidentally, I am reading Anthony Norvell on the subject right now. I also manifested my dream, exporting my designs to the USA and selling to top London stores, back in the day. It took me approximately ten years from the day I first dreamed of it, to have the opportunity to follow that dream, but I did it. Your article has inspired me to
create more manifestations 🙂
No problem! I have heard of him, I still need to look into his stuff. That’s awesome! Do you still do that?
It does work (for me anyway) . It does require effort to be consistent with it, sometimes I forget.
Good luck with the new manifestations!
If you want to take it one step further into “woo woo” land, highly suggest you watch a Abraham-hicks youtube – based on we are a vibrational beings in a vibrational universe and that is what we have to align up with for manifestation
Step 1 – Ask (rockets of desire launched)
Step 2 – Source answers once you align your energy/vibration up with the thing you asked for even in the absence of it “right now” – it will manifest when you do
3. – manifestation
It’s basically the missing element for most people from the early days of “The Secret”. Instead of looking at “what is”, you hold onto whats becoming, but feel as if you already have it right now – interesting stuff.
